How to Decorate a Small Bedroom

Gone are the days of expansive homes with space to spare even after putting in complete sets of furniture. As the concept of space gets dearer and property rates skyrocket in major cities around the world, more and more people are moving to smaller homes with smaller bedrooms.
But living in it is one thing, decorating it to look suave is another!

But small space dwellers need not fear. Downsizing does not mean that you have to compromise on stylish interiors. It just means that you need to put on your thinking hat and come up with clever and practical ideas to utilize space effectively with tips like having an under bed storage

Although the media has set the standard of a perfect luxurious bedroom to be a place with a sitting area, small office, or a king size bed, at the end of the day, your bedroom is meant to be just a cocoon to revitalize your lost energy. Small living spaces are on the rise and so are adjustable bed sales which constitute the core of any bedroom today.

In fact, having a small bedroom could work wonders in your advantage by limiting the stimulating activities you undertake in your sleep sanctuary.

So how do you make a small bedroom look stylish without converting it into a cramped quarter? Let’s find out!

Go Light or White:

Light colors can elevate the feeling of space to make rooms look bigger while darker hues tend to close in. While white is the classic color that can transform any room to make it airier and light, subtle tones of colors like yellow and blue can also do the trick. The same can be done with furniture. Opt for lighter tones of furniture if possible.

Ditch the bulky bed:

We know how much you love your king size bed but it is out of place if you’re keeping it in a small sized room where the bed is all that you can fit inside. Go for single or smaller beds instead. Adjustable bed sales are on the rise as people realize the advantages of having a bed that can be adjusted for comfort and according to available space. You can also place your bed against the wall to save that precious wall space.

Avoid huge headboards and get hung ones to save space. Or you can ditch it entirely and use the wall as a headboard.

Smart Storage:

Putting up singular-use furniture in a small room is no less than a crime. In order to increase storage space, buy or get multifunctional furniture made to store your essentials. A bed with built-in storage or tables that double up as book racks and cabinets are great for small spaces. Shelves and drawers are never sufficient in a small bedroom and it is imperative to make the most out of available space. Built-in bookshelves provide extra storage space without the disadvantage of a chunky protrusion.

Go vertical:

Talking of space, while the horizontal coverage might limit your creativity, the vertical limit will definitely have some scope for space. Those with high ceilings can go the extra mile and build their beds on higher platforms to make the most out of under the bed storage.

Minimalism is key:

You cannot afford to cramp your place with every available piece of decoration. Embrace minimalism and keep the focus on essentials like your bed, a sofa, or maybe a tower fan for when it gets too hot inside.

Bring Mirrors to Use:

Mirrors are great to create an illusion of a bigger space. If used wisely, a beautiful mirror might be the only accessory you’ll need to decorate your bedroom and making it look bigger than it actually is.

A small bedroom comes with the natural advantage of added coziness and warmth. At the end of the day, it is not the size of the bedroom that will matter, but the quality of relaxation and sleep you get in it.
